Fast, faster, speed hiking!

Athletic hikes that generate peak mountain pleasure

If you are someone who likes to move through the mountains at a somewhat faster pace than others, you have probably given speed hiking a try before. Speed hiking is a type of activity in which hikers rapidly work their way across challenging terrain. They generally use lightweight gear in the process, with poles being their equipment of choice. We have worked with our collaboration partner Top Trails to define the key features of speed hiking and identify the best tours.

Speed hiking is becoming more and more popular. Speed hiking is different from Nordic walking or simply “fast walking.” But you have to take a close look at the discipline to see why. Unlike normal walking or Nordic Walking, speed hiking is usually done with poles and, above all, on demanding terrain. It is basically a very efficient form of endurance training. The process of fast-paced mountain climbing optimally trains speed hikers’ muscles and strengthens their cardiovascular systems.
